THE WAVE

Was on MC for 2 days, kinda wanted to do some painting/drawing, and yet just not school-related stuff.
So, since that day i saw shiyin used watercolour on canvas, decided i shall try that too. just for fun.

I squashed it a bit horizontally, because the canvas i used was 12 inch X 12 inch.

Basically used watercolour, white acrylic and black ink.

  1. I think this is a really interesting and refreshing piece of art. The style in which this painting is executed sort of reminded me of Japanese woodblock prints.

  2. hey zhiyi!
so how did you find using watercolour on canvas? anyway, i really like this painting, like what jiashin said, it looks alot like those japanese woodblock prints, okay maybe not prints but like paintings, on a scroll. it is very characteristic of japanese waves. i like the gradients in your painting, be it in the sky or the blue coloured waves or the white part of the waves. it gives the painting more dimension.
its simple, neat and it looks like its painted effortlessly. i think you can go sell this work!!! :O
